Wildlife Preserve

Ford's Colony Rocky Mount - Wildlife PreserveOne of the most enjoyed features at Ford’s Colony is our 530 acres of nature preserve that’s home to many different species of wildlife.

It's not uncommon to spot whitetail deer, wild turkeys, marsh hawks, blue herons, or even bald eagles here. Throughout the community, nature lovers can immerse themselves in unlimited peaceful hours of wildlife viewing.

Our sister community, Ford’s Colony Williamsburg, received conservation certificates and recognition from The United States Department of the Interior, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and The College of William and Mary, and, most importantly, helped preserve an endangered species, which the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently reclassified as a "threatened species.” Following her example, Ford’s Colony Rocky Mount is dedicated to using environmentally sensitive development techniques.

It all started with a master plan that ensured more acres be designated as green space, buffers, ponds and wildlife preserve.
